Bachelor, Master, Ph.D Projects Molecular Biotechnology/Biochemistry
We are looking for highly motivated candidates for Bachelor, Master and
Ph.D. projects in the area of lipid biosynthesis and function. These
projects include the analysis of transgenic and mutant lines of plants,
algae or bacteria employing state-of-the-art molecular, genetic,
biochemical and analytical techniques.
Possible projects include:
- Biosynthesis and function of vitamin E (tocopherol) and of related compounds in plants and cyanobacteria
- The role of plant and bacterial lipids in abiotic stress (temperature stress, phosphate deficiency, drought)
- Regulation of carbon deposition in oil seeds (Arabidopsis thaliana, Camelina sativa)
- The role of lipids during root nodule formation (nitrogen fixation) and root-fungus interactions (arbuscular mycorrhiza) in Lotus japonicus
- High-throughput lipid analytics via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry
- Biosynthesis and function of lipids in bacteria (Mesorhizobium loti, Agrobacterium tumefaciens, Synechocystis)
